I haven't been following the discussion, but Meta Kirby asked me directly for input. I don't know how you guys want to use the soundtrack, but I need to point out something: autoplaying videos or music are not to be encouraged by modern web standards (blog, W3C doc). If the intention is to make a Youtube object then this should not autoplay - I also believe that the Youtube Mediawiki extension that enables Youtube embedding disallows autoplaying videos for the reasons I gave.
I don't know what you have in mind for the soundtrack so I'm just going to list my favourites:
Rainbow Resort and Ripple Star Select go all the way back to Kirby's Adventure and Kirby 64 respectively. I also have a soft spot for the piano :)
Sorry I can't directly reference soundtracks in the wiki anymore since Wikia decided to mess with the playlist system.

Actually the background was from way back in 2011. You need to know that while I put it together, all the assets are Nintendo's property, so while using it for something like your wallpaper is fine, please don't use it for a personal website etc.

Some pages can't be loaded in the VE as they have complicated code or markup, but I could load the page you mentioned, but I had to switch my preferences first since I use source mode exclusively. It might be something to do with your preferences or it might be a hiccup on Wikia's end. Either way, I'm afraid there's nothing I can do about it.
Just talk to me if there's problems like these. I don't frequent this wiki anymore but I can always try to fix things.
This was caused by Wikia's changes to load an iframe (basically another page) as the editor. This causes the CSS definitions to treat that page as the main page and splat the background in there as well. It just took me 5 minutes to figure out what's going on and to set an override. You shouldn't see the background now.
Hit Ctrl+F5 to force your browser to reload the CSS if you're still seeing it. You only need to do this once.
Hey SYZekrom, thanks for bringing up your concerns. Constructive criticism is always welcome, but you need to understand that there are many reasons behind how the videos are now.
There are missing tracks, sure. But I believe the tracks' comprehensiveness match or exceed parity against Kirby's Rainbow Resort, which was what I set out to do a couple of years ago. We still lack Star Stacker's tracks, but Gioku's working on that (thanks, Gioku ^^). Can we do better? Sure. Is there monumental effort in doing so? Yes. Is this a high priority task? In my opinion, not really.
Why is it so difficult to upload a few videos? Why can't we just use existing playlists like Gunna's? Like Gioku said, using other playists make it subject to link rot. What happens if the user hosting the playlist you are linking to takes it down? What happens if the account gets hit with DCMA takedown or whatnot, because it's not just hosting Kirby videos? What happens if you want to change the title of the video? You have no control over Gunna's videos, whereas you can talk to either Gioku or me, or anybody else who this wiki trusts implicitly, who I add as a manager, who have full control over the playlists, who can do anything we want. We don't want whoever hosts the videos to make money off ads. Would we have control over this other than hosting it ourselves? There's no way that I can think of. The only possibility that we'd lose the videos is if Nintendo or Google decides that these Kirby videos infringe on copyright, does them more harm than good, and decides to take them down, or one of our channel managers go bonkers and removes them, and I don't think any of us are mad hatters yet ^^.
Bandwidth. Most of the Youtube videos are shiny, right? Why did I choose to upload ugly pictures? Well, if you notice from the site, there should be zero instances where you can actually see the video unless you mess around with your browser DOM. Those pretty videos eat bandwidth, and it's all for nothing. If you throttle your internet connection, you can see that our videos will still work, whereas the others will not.
Purpose. These videos serve as documentation. Documentation is by no means defined as complete. This wiki is Kirby documentation, and I wouldn't by any yardstick call it complete. It's easy to criticize it now, when we have done all the hard work to lay out all the tracks in front of you. Backtrack two years, and the only place where you can find it all in once place is in KRR (which is still up and running). They did not have documentation beyond what track is named what, neither do any of the Youtube channels. Even if they did, you'd have to rely on Youtube API calls to bring that content here, and guess what, we have no control over that content unless we control the videos.
Lossless encoding. The current encodings are lossless, by the way, even if the original source was not. Is lossless important to us? I'd say no. Making it lossless means someone can just come up here and anybody competent can rip it off Youtube and call it a day. What are original soundtrack discs for again? We won't be doing any favors for Nintendo. The soundtracks are there so we can explain to readers, look, this is how the Kirby Dance has evolved over 20 years, isn't that awesome? Look, this is Dedede's theme, notice where they suddenly added in an additional passage? You don't get that info anywhere else, as far as I know, as much as I'd like to be corrected.
I chose this method to do things, because in my opinion, videos are a supporting part of the site, and the integral part is always the content. Videos are also shiny and new users like to play with them, but they usually have not been with us long enough to get a feel for how or why things are done on Kirby Wiki -- that takes months and months and years. Not all parts of the wiki are editable by non-administrators, like the MediaWiki namespace and certain templates, for instance, because their impact is wide-ranging and there are many things to be considered before performing a change.
I synthesized two key points from your messages. One is the criticism, which I have addressed, and the other one is essentially a partition of soundtracks into sound test ones, and non-soundtest ones. The soundtracks' names are never meant to be the sound test names although that would be nice. It's because Youtube videos need a name (for obvious purposes), but we pull the tracks into a PortalRAF template and collate them into a custom display, which shows no name at all, like what you see in the majority of game level pages. Is it a valid point? Absolutely. Us admins have our hands full though, on other more pressing areas. Playlist reorg tends to be easy, but if there are any reuploads or anything related to changing the youtube track ID, that's extremely nasty, because then you'd have to change all the references to that track on the wiki as well, although I've mostly mitigated it by only keeping references to them in the PortalRA templates, so you can do a text replace etc. Still, you have to keep track of what you are changing. If the 'official sound test' names are really that important, we could always add a column in the template to record that, but I believe you can have different names for the same tracks in the CD, game, and between different localizations, not to mention game files.

Your Template:Sprites/Core had a syntax error; You missed a hash preceding the if parser function controlling the code block for the collapsible behavior.
Your Template:Sprites was also missing the call to your parameter for collapse - you need to pass in the argument to the lower level template - I've fixed both

No, it won't override. the exact behavior is specified here. The script checks the whole page for tables with the collapsible class and hides anything that's not the first th. Get rid of the wikitable class that's applying the wiki table formatting and you should keep your original styling.

Heyo, if you need the base infobox / navbox templates unprotected so you can modify them, just ask. It's there just so people don't vandalize them, it's not to prevent modification. Collapsible support can be added but it's not suitable for infoboxes, plus infoboxes only support either rows with one or two fields while the sprite tables need 4.
You seem to have a good template going, maybe just add the collapsible class to your table element to make it collapsible?
The numbers were made up by BlueNinjakoopa, that's why they were removed. Although he performed some in-game estimation, those numbers aren't pulled from the game's debug mode or files or anything like that - They weren't nearly as accurate as the numbers would suggest - for example the Swerve star does not turn while moving - as far as my testing goes it's not a value of 1, it's 0 or very close to 0 - either way it's not quantifiable, because the information is not available.
You can find the discussion here. User_talk:GuyPerfect. As you can see the only straight numbers are the HP values since those are directly observable as when the player takes damage, the value pointed to by the corresponding pointer changes. The other values are performed as physics calculations and are hence hidden.
The current presentation is vague because that's the extent of the information we have, and the machines' characteristics cannot be entirely quantified in terms of a straight bar chart. What it's supposed to mean is that the player would pick that machine for its characteristics - for example the Hydra would have very high speed and offense, and you wouldn't pick the formula star if you need to glide for any duration. The machines are not directly comparable as a bar chart would suggest - keep in mind, this is all not even considering factors like star drafting - the Shadow Star becomes the fastest of them all if you are tailing someone, for example, and the wheelie bike moves at 50 kph on grind rails.
This is why it's changed. Hope this helps you understand why that decision was made a bit better. The differences in icon sizes are merely because they are different files - the size differences do not mean anything. I've fixed the most obvious ones now.
I'm just a more technically-oriented user who takes care of those kinds of codey things that others people don't want to touch, or at least don't know how to... hardly head honcho or anything like that (I'm glad we don't have any of those). Seems a fair course of action to implement barring any objections from other users. This is not exactly a high-traffic area but I'm sure at least the other admins and patrollers would have picked this up from patrols.
Well, there's no drawbacks to adding the interwiki links. I personally don't see why not.
