Burnin' Leo (or Burning Leo) is an enemy appearing in both Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra. Burnin' Leo is round in shape and has fire-like hair that it constantly holds on to. It gives the Fire ability when eaten, and is also the Helper for the Fire ability.
As a Helper, it has dark violet-blue skin, green shoes, and small blue hands. It wears a green headband which holds a bright red gem in the middle of it. Both the headband and its flaming hair look a lot like Fire Kirby's hat. As an enemy, Burnin' Leo is a salmon-pink color with black colored accessories.

Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra
Edit
Burnin' Leo first appeared in Super Star as a enemy and a Helper. Burnin' Leo has less strength than the other helpers, but its vitality is strong. Like all other Helpers, Burnin' Leo possesses all the attacks Fire Kirby can use. The enemy version spits out fire balls that slightly home in on Kirby and can occasionally breath fire. They first appear in a level in Spring Breeze, specifically Float Islands.
In Kirby Super Star Ultra, Burnin' Leo is virtually unchanged from the original, aside from having dark blue skin as opposed to light blue skin. A green-colored Burning Leo with purple shoes is playable in Helper to Hero.
Etymology
Edit
Burnin' Leo draws inspiration from "lion spirits" from traditional Chinese Kabuki. Burnin' Leo's hair vaguely resembles the hair of lion spirits, and its name also reflects its relation to them. In addition, the way they twirl their hair while moving is indicative of them.
Trivia
Edit
- Burnin' Leo makes a cameo Kirby Mass Attack, where it appears as a cameo as an enemy that is drawn into Marx's black hole attack during the final battle of Kirby Brawlball. This Burnin' Leo seemingly uses the enemy coloration from Kirby Super Star but is a bit more orange-looking.
