Cupie is a semi-rare enemy that appears in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror and Kirby: Squeak Squad. It gives the Cupid ability when inhaled, and is the only enemy in the Kirby series to do so. There are bunches of Cupies in an area of Mustard Mountain, because there are many spiked ceilings and burning floors, making it difficult to cross. The wings Cupie's ability grants are useful to cross the narrow passageways.

Cupie also appears in Kirby: Triple Deluxe as a keychain.

Physical Appearance

Cupie is a small, green, angel-like enemy with a small, curved horn, and white wings. It carries a wooden bow, and shoots arrows with heart-shaped arrowheads.

Cupies hover in a circular motion. To attack, Cupie uses its bow and arrow to try to hit Kirby. The arrows don't fly very far and are easily dodged, and can be destroyed with a Copy Ability, or grabbed using Throw.

Cupie's name comes from the Roman god of affection, Cupid, a mythical figure known for shooting humans with passion-inducing arrows. Cupie's Japanese name, Annie, is derived from the word angel.

  • Pressing the A button while possessing a Cupie with Ghost Kirby will cause the Cupie to fly backwards. This technique enables the Cupie to fly in a circular motion while still aiming in one direction. This is also true of Laser Ball.
