The objective of the game is to get Kirby as far from the starting line as possible before time runs out. There are three game modes: 10, 30, or 60-Second Dash.
Shapes are painted on the ground in front of Kirby; a circle, a triangle, or a square. Every shape Kirby passes over counts as one meter. The player must tap the correct shape on the bottom screen for Kirby to advance properly. Every correct shape tapped fills a three-level gauge on the left; the higher the level on this gauge, the shorter the delay between each of Kirby's jump, enabling him to respond to the player's next tap faster. If the player taps the incorrect shape, the gauge drops by one full level.
The sub-game is similar in nature to one that came before it - 100-Yard Hop in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. The only differences between it and 100-Yard Hop is that Kirby races against his own best time instead of against other players or CPUs to reach the finish line first.
