Clanksprout is a large enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby Mass Attack.
Physical Appearance[]
Clanksprout is a long segmented creature with two claw-like mandibles on the sides of its head. Its body is bead-like and it has a single shiny eye. It is usually seen in a teal color, but there are also some purple ones as well.

Kirby Mass Attack[]
Clanksprout appears as a common enemy in Sandy Canyon, starting in Stage 4. Clanksprout attacks by emerging from dirt, like Warwiggle, to grab a Kirby. If the Kirby is not rescued in time, he is pulled under the ground, instantly KOing him. Clanksprout can sometimes be difficult to defeat, because it reaches a high altitude. Purple Clanksprouts follow the Kirbys to wherever they moved on the dirt, and later emerge, while teal Clanksprouts always emerge from the same spot. This enemy requires many Kirbys or several attacks from a small group to be defeated.
A giant, mechanical variant appears as a mid-boss in Stage 8 of Sandy Canyon.
Etymology[]
Its Japanese name, ガニョッキ (Ganyokki), comes from the Japanese word for sticking out prominently, にょっきり (nyokkiri).
Trivia[]
- Defeating Clanksprout using Invincible Candy reveals a unique sprite for its defeat animation, depicting its eye as an X and its left claw broken.
