Clown Acrobot[1] is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby: Triple Deluxe. It yields the Circus ability when inhaled, and is the only enemy to do so.

Physical Appearance[]

Clown Acrobot is a small enemy. It has a red hat with a single purple stripe atop its dark head, and a rainbow-colored afro that sticks out underneath it. It has large, smiling, red lips and a bright, round, red nose above those lips. The enemy does not appear to have any eyes, with a blank metal plate serving as its face. Clown Acrobot has a violet body with an orange collar. The enemy features a purple ring around its waist, and underneath that, a legless, pointed bottom with white and red stripes. Clown Acrobot has large, white, finger-less gloves.

Games[]

Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Kirby: Planet Robobot[]

Clown Acrobot bounces back and forth slowly, either juggling three balls or twirling a hula hoop around his body. Kirby can destroy these juggling balls, but the enemy will not react, and the balls will simply reappear again a moment later. These balls effectively serve as a defense against attacks from above, and make it difficult for the player to jump over the enemy. The hula hoop has a greater horizontal range than the juggling balls, and can hit the player if he/she is next to Clown Acrobot.

Clown Acrobot also appears as an enemy in the downloadable sub-game Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe. The enemy will bounce atop a drum, and when it reaches a certain height, it will spin its hula hoop vigorously, which holds it in midair for a short time. While Clown Acrobot is in midair, King Dedede can pass underneath it. In some cases, this is the only way of avoiding the enemy.

Etymology[]

Clown Acrobot's name is a combination of several words: "Clown," referencing its appearance; "acrobat," referencing its performing profession; and "robot."

Its Japanese name, ファニーロバッツ (Fanī Robattsu), is a combination of "Funny" (ファニー Fanī) and "Acrobatics" (アクロバット Akurobatto).[2]

Trivia[]

  • Clown Acrobot's bottom resembles a big pointed top or parasol.
