The rare Gijira Extract (alternately spelled Gigira) is a powerful "spice" that can make virtually any food taste scrumptious and smell irresistible that appeared in an episode of Kirby: Right Back at Ya! titled, A Recipe for DisasterChef Shiitake was falsely accused of using this an ingredient to make his food taste good. As Tiff points out in the Japanese version of the show, Gijira is a hallucinogen made from Dream Land's mushrooms (in the English dub, it is simply referred to as a magical spice). Due to the spice's properties, any chef who is caught using it is shamed from the culinary world. Kawasaki finds a container of it in Shiitake's belongings. When Kirby inhales this spice, he begins to imagine all of the audience members as food. Kirby wildly tries to eat them, only to be thrashed by the corn monster Cobgoblin. After Kirby (seemingly) recovers, Kawasaki confronts Shiitake about the spice. Shiitake says that he brought the spice along for Kawasaki to help him run his restaurant.

The Gijira extract was never mentioned since A Recipe for Disaster.

Gijira Kirby

Kirby under the influence of Gijira Extract

  • The scene when Kirby starts imagining all of the Cappies as food comes directly from a cutscene from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. In the cutscene, Kirby, who is dreadfully hungry, starts to imagine that all of his friends are food. Interestingly, in the anime scene, King Dedede appears as a cooked chicken. In the cutscene from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Waddle Dee also appears as a cooked chicken.
  • Kirby's eyes turn purple while hallucinating. The same happens with victims under Yin-Yarn's possession in Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn.
    • Not only do Kirby's eyes turn purple, his eyebrows drop, making his eyes look hazy.
