Nearly always teamed with Putts, Ignuses roll down hills at Kirby, crushing him if he's too slow to move. Don't touch Ignus after he's stopped rolling—he can still damage you, just like Splinter.

Ignus is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It doesn't grant any Copy Ability when inhaled.

Physical Appearance[]

Ignus resembles a gray or dark brown igneous rock. In Rock Star's fourth stage, their bodies appear to be on fire a bit, whereas, in Aqua Star, their bodies emit bubbles. They come in three different sizes.

Games[]

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards[]

Ignus is found in the fourth stages of Aqua Star and Neo Star. Its only method of attack is just falling from the sky to land on Kirby. Kirby can carry Ignus above his head to protect himself from other Ignuses. If thrown only the biggest size will be affected by gravity.

Etymology[]

Ignus is derived from the word "igneous," which describes a type of rock formed from intense heat.

Its Japanese name, カダン (Kadan), comes from the Japanese word for igneous rock, かせいがん/火成岩 (kaseigan).

Trivia[]

  • Despite being a volcanic rock itself, Ignus gives neither the Fire nor the Stone ability.
  • The Prima strategy guide for Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is flawed; it mistakes Ignus for Putt's boulder and refers to the real Ignus as simply a volcanic rock.
