Illusion Islands is the second stage of the Revenge of the King sub-game. It serves as a harder version of Spring Breeze's Float Islands. It follows Purple Plants and comes before Crash Clouds.

Level Intro[]

Kirby is seen fishing on the edge of the island. All of a sudden, he feels a tug on his line and pulls it up. But instead of a fish, a Flotzo surfaces and grabs onto Kirby's face. Due to its suctioned tentalces, Kirby is unable to pry it off his face.

This is nearly the same intro as Float Islands', only Kirby catches a Flotzo instead of a Blipper.

General Information[]

Illusion Islands is a small chain of melancholy islands off the coast of Purple Plants. It is a shady place that has a large structure like Castle Lololo. It also has a large network of caverns to explore as well. Some rooms follow the layout of the Kirby's Dream Land version of Float Islands, rather than Spring Breeze's interpretation of it. The esteemed HAL Room also makes an appearance in this level (see the corresponding section below). Lololo & Lalala's Revenge is the boss of this level.

The name "Illusion Islands" may be a reference to the Aleutian Islands, a chain of islands that extend from Alaska.

The HAL Room[]

The HAL Room is a secret area that appears for the first time since Kirby's Adventure. To enter the HAL Room, Kirby must first have either the Stone or Hammer ability. After making it to the veranda of the castle, the player comes across a stake protruding from the ground. Pounding this down destroys a chain of bricks in the ground, revealing a seemingly pointless area. Heading to the far left of this area and pressing up on the +Control Pad will send Kirby to the room. It contains Mr. Tick-Tock, some items, and a large congregation of Star Blocks spelling out the word "HAL."
