Maw is an enemy from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It uses its large mouth to attack. Maw mostly hangs out in cloudy areas and is hard to hit regularly. However, it can be taken out, usually with an attack that does a wide area of damage (like Stone + Bomb or Spark + Spark). It waits in holes in the ground or on the ceiling and lunges out when Kirby is near. It can only be defeated when it comes out of its hole (unless the player has good sight and an ability like Burn + Needle). Maws make their first appearance in the first stage of Shiver Star.
Physical Appearance[]
Maw resembles a long blue crocodile-like mouth with sharp, white teeth with large eyes positioned on either side of its head. It heavily resembles Pacto, an enemy introduced in Kirby's Dream Land 3.
Etymology[]
Maw's name comes from the word "maw," which refers to the jaws or throat of a voracious animal.
