Pompey is a fiery foe appearing in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It looks like a miniature volcano with a small round black body inside, which has round eyes. Pompey sits in one place and attacks by shooting out small balls of magma from its crater. Despite its incendiary properties, Pompey gives the Stone ability when inhaled rather than Burning, reflecting the composition of volcanoes as they are made of stone. Pompey makes its first appearance on Aqua Star.
Etymology[]
Pompey's name is a play on Pompeii, Italy, where a volcano named Mt. Vesuvius famously erupted and caused catastrophic damage. Its appearance is based on a volcano like the one in Pompeii, and it behaves much like one as well, spewing balls of lava as it erupts.
