Some of the tougher enemies in the game, Zooses ride clouds, and they fire sparks and large raindrops, both of which can damage Kirby. Making matters worse, they fly higher than Kirby can jump and their clouds are invulnerable to attack. Destroying them takes skill and good timing.

Zoos is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It gives the Spark ability when inhaled.

Physical Appearance[]

Zoos is a small pale yellow creature with black eyes and a three-pronged head that lives high up in a small dark thunder cloud that serves as its means of transportation. It has small, round ball-shaped hands that peek out from above its cloud.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards[]

Zoos first appears in Stage 1 of Aqua Star. It floats in a cloud and tries to maintain a height advantage over Kirby. Zoos attacks by either throwing an arcing bolt of electricity or dropping a raindrop from the cloud.

Etymology[]

Zoos is named after the Greek god of lightning, Zeus.

Its Japanese name, パッチ (Pacchi), comes from the Japanese onomatopoeia for crackling, パチパチ (pachipachi).

Trivia[]

  • A pre-release screenshot of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards shows that at least one Zoos was intended to appear in Stage 3 of Pop Star.
  • Zoos is similar to Loud and Cret, both cloud-based enemies using projectiles falling down on Kirby.
    • Zoos is similar to Lakitu from the Super Mario series, riding on clouds and throwing objects down at the protagonist.
