Babut is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Dream Land 3. It yields no Copy Ability when inhaled.
Physical Appearance[]
Babut is a round bat with black fur. It has white eyes, an orange nose-shaped snout, and lengthy, leathery red wings. The insides of Babut's ears are also bright red.
In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, its wings are orange instead of red.
Games[]
Kirby's Dream Land 3[]
Babut first appears in Stage 4 of Grass Land. Babut lies dormant while clinging to a ceiling until the player passes underneath, after which it will swoop down and chase after Kirby. If it makes contact with Kirby, it will latch on to him and begin draining his health. If it comes in contact with a floor, cliff, or wall while doing so, it will stop chasing him and fly off in the opposite direction.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[]
Babuts makes its first appearance in Stage 4 of Raisin Ruins. Babut now now latches onto the player and attempts to bite them three times. The player can break out of its grasp by rapidly shaking the Wii Remote or mashing the +Control Pad. Babut also appears in the Wing Challenge.
Babuts can also be summoned by Mr. Dooter after he loses half his health. These Babuts fly off-screen after a while if the player avoids their attacks long enough.
Kirby's Blowout Blast[]
Babut appears in Stages 1 and 3 of Level 5, Stage 3 of Level 5 EX, and Stage 5 of the Secret Path. It rushes at Kirby but can no longer latch onto him. Like most enemies in the game, scaled-up versions of it appear that can be inhaled for a Blaster Bullet.
Kirby Battle Royale[]
Babuts appear as audience members in the Coin Clash mode.
Etymology[]
Babut comes from the word "bat," referencing the animal it's based on.
Trivia[]
- Due to its method of attack, Babut is one of the few enemies that doesn't take damage by bumping into the player.
