Captain Stitch is a mid-boss in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Dream Land 2. He gives the Needle ability when inhaled.

Physical Appearance[]

Captain Stitch has an appearance like that of a large Gordo. His visage appears somewhat angry, as opposed to Gordos, which typically do not have individual expressions, instead almost always having their eyes wide open. In Kirby's Dream Land 2, he appears black with white spikes, while in Kirby's Dream Land 3 he appears more of a grayish-blue color. In the Kirby of the Stars Pilot, he appears gray and his spikes are more elongated.

Games[]

Kirby's Dream Land 2[]

Captain Stitch makes his debut in Kirby's Dream Land 2, serving as the mid-boss that grants the Needle ability. Like Gordos, he cannot be damaged normally. His main tactics involve floating around in pursuit of Kirby, charging at him, or throwing his spikes at him. If he charges at Kirby, he will slam into the wall and be knocked back, dropping his spikes in the process; when he loses his spikes, he can be damaged normally. As such, he is also vulnerable right after throwing his spikes.

Kirby's Dream Land 3[]

Captain Stitch returns in Kirby's Dream Land 3, behaving the same way he does in Kirby's Dream Land 2.

In Kirby of the Stars Pilot[]

Captain Stitch appears in the Kirby of the Stars Pilot, along with Master Green, Blocky, Meta Knight, Dark Matter, and Ice Dragon, as one of the monsters summoned by Nightmare. Despite appearing like a Gordo, he does not share their traits of being invulnerable or immune to Kirby's inhale. He is the first victim to Kirby's powerful inhale, and is used as a projectile to defeat Meta Knight.

Trivia[]

KMA BetaGordo sprite

Unused sprite

  • An unused purple Gordo-like enemy appears in Kirby Mass Attack’s files. Its sprite is unfinished and its normal facial expression looks very similar to Captain Stitch, suggesting he was planned to be added into the game in some form.
  • Oddly enough, Togeira bares a resemblance to Captain Stitch, despite the latter only appearing in the Kirby of the Stars Pilot.
