Kapars throw their circular boomerangs at Kirby just like Sirkibble [sic] throws his hat. Watch out—they jump up to catch Kirby, and that boomerang does damage going out and coming back.

Kapar is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Dream Land 3. It gives the Cutter ability when inhaled.

Physical appearance[]

Kapar is a green, duck-like enemy with webbed, dark green feet and round eyes. The crown of his head as well as his beak are yellow, and he wears a dark green hat.

Games[]

Kirby's Dream Land 3[]

Kapar sits in one place, and occasionally jumps up and throws his spiky, hollow hat atop his head at Kirby. He is also capable of swimming and appearing underwater.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards[]

In addition to regular Kapar, Big Kapar appears in Stage 3 of Aqua Star as a Room Guarder; in addition to summoning Bumbers, two at a time, Big Kapar also attacks in the same way the regular ones do, even jumping before throwing its hat as necessary; it takes four hits to defeat and drops the stage's second Crystal Shard when defeated.

Etymology[]

Kapar is named after the mythical Japanese monster, Kappa (かっぱ/河童 kappa). Kapar's circular boomerangs are based on the distinctive "plate" (皿 sara) on a Kappa's head.

Trivia[]

  • The Prima strategy guide for Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is flawed; it states that Kapar throws their circular boomerangs like Sir Kibble and that said boomerangs do damage going out and coming back, when in reality, Kapar's boomerang does not come back, and thus can only do damage going out.
  • Big Kapar is the first Room Guarder in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards to not summon regular versions of itself, instead summoning Bumbers.
