Sand Snoozroot is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby Mass Attack. It is a variant of Snoozroot.
Physical Appearance[]
Sand Snoozroot is an orange plant enemy with a bead-like stem with two leaves at its base. It has an ovular head, yellow cheek blushes, large yellow lips, and a reddish orange bow on the top of its head. While Sand Snoozroot is preparing to spit sand, its head swells up to a large size, turning dark red in color.

Kirby Mass Attack[]
Sand Snoozroot appears exclusively in Stages 4, 9, and 10 of Sandy Canyon. Like other Snoozroot variants, it is found sleeping. When the Kirbys approach, it awakens and begins charging its attack. Its head gradually swells to a huge size before the creature points its lips skyward and spits a burst of sand into the air. This does not damage the heroes, but it obscures the entire screen with a brown layer for a short time. Enemies and Swap Blocks often appear nearby; the dust prevents the player from visually distinguishing differences in these, which impedes the player's interactions with them.
Sand Snoozroot can be easily defeated with just a few Kirbys or repeated attacks from one. It is less vulnerable when its head is swollen; in fact, when it spits sand, any Kirby clinging to its head gets launched.
Etymology[]
Its Japanese name, ウトサンド (Utosando), comes from the Japanese name of Snoozroot, ウトウト (Utouto), which comes from the Japanese onomatopoeia for dozing off; and sand, サンド (sando), which refers to its use of sand to obscure the player's view.
