Bounder is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Adventure. It yields no Copy Ability when inhaled.

Physical Appearance[]

In its first three games, Bounder resembles a small humanoid child with two large, shiny eyes, a large, circular head, two circular hands, a black body, and tan skin; artwork depicts it as having black feet, but sprites in Kirby's Adventure show the feet being orange instead. In Kirby's Toy Box, it has white skin, red eyes, red clothing, and purple feet. It underwent a redesign in Kirby Super Star, where it wears blue clothing and an orange backpack with a single strap around its neck. In this appearance, it has pale skin, red feet, eyes with blue irises, and what appears to be a single antenna coming out the back of its head. Bounder no longer has arms to connect its hands to its body.

Games[]

Kirby's Adventure[]

Bounder makes its first appearance in this game. It clings to walls and sometimes jumps from them in an effort to hit Kirby. They are also capable of throwing small stars.

In the remake of Kirby's Adventure, Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, Bounder is replaced by an enemy named Gip. The only difference between Bounder and Gip is in appearance, as their attack methods are completely the same. The reasons for this change are unknown.

Kirby's Pinball Land[]

Two Bounders appear in the Top Stage of Whispy Woods Land, one on each side. The Bounders can move up and down the walls, possibly blocking Pinball Kirby from making a shot into the top lane. Hitting a Bounder awards 480 points.

Kirby's Block Ball[]

Bounder appears as an enemy in Stage 11. It climbs up and down a column of Indestructible Blocks and, after three hits, drops a Crash item.

Kirby's Toy Box[]

Bounder appears in the Pinball game.

Kirby Super Star[]

Bounder behaves similarly to how it did in Kirby's Adventure. Bounder also appears as an audience member in the Dedede Arena and in Megaton Punch, as the latter uses the same audience members. However, Bounder is again replaced by Gip in this game's remake, Kirby Super Star Ultra, for unknown reasons.

Kirby Super Star Ultra[]

While Bounder as an enemy has been replaced with Gip, as it was in Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, it still appears as an audience member in Megaton Punch, as it and Samurai Kirby were unaltered from their Kirby Super Star appearances; he no longer appears as an audience member in the Dedede Arena, however, as it now has a unique audience.

Etymology[]

Bounder's name comes from the word "bound," which can mean "to move by leaps; leap; jump; spring," referencing its behavior of jumping from the walls.

Trivia[]

  • Rolling Turtle, Capsule J, Togezo, and Bounder are currently the only enemies to have been replaced by other enemies in their respective game's remake.
