Shieldster really doesn't want you to get past him. He's going to block each and every one of your attempts, just to prove he's stronger than you. Try not to look him right in the eye as you go by. He's got a creepy stare.
— Figurine description • Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

Shieldster is a large enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.

Physical Appearance[]

Shieldster is big, round enemy with arms not unlike Kirby's. He has a tiny mouth, a visor revealing only one eye, and a square base that can flex and stretch to act as feet. The foe's body is devoid of color. Shieldster carries a round, wooden shield bearing three big spikes.

Games[]

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse[]

Shieldster appears in the stage Wonder Space, as well as in Challenge Mode. He paces back and forth across the platform he resides on, carrying his shield in front. If Shieldster is facing Kirby when the pink puff reaches his level, the enemy notices and rushes toward him. He stands unmoving with his shield out until Kirby leaves. Shieldster cannot see the hero when his back is turned.

Kirby will take damage if he touches Shieldster's shield, but the enemy's head and back are vulnerable to attack. After three Tap Dashes, the enemy will dissolve into a harmless pile of clay. This is only a temporary defeat—after approximately ten seconds, he reforms. Kirby can only permanently defeat it by hitting it with a Star Dash or by firing himself out of a Warpspace's tail.

Etymology[]

Shieldster's name is derived from the word "shield" and the suffix "-meister," referencing the shield he carries at all times.
