Para Matter (sometimes shortened to just Para) is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby: Canvas Curse. It only appears in the battle against Drawcia Soul.

Para Matter also appears in Kirby: Triple Deluxe as a collectible keychain.

Physical Appearance[]

Para Matter is a spherical entity with four flaps covering its single eye, and comes in colors of red, blue, and yellow.

Games[]

Kirby: Canvas Curse[]

Para Matter are produced from Drawcia Soul's body. There are three different variants of Para Matter, each with their own unique way of attacking.

  • Para Red will ignite themselves and chase Kirby around the arena, before eventually exploding.
  • Para Blue fly off the screen, and then attempt to divebomb Kirby, trying to freeze him.
  • Para Yellow fires lasers out of its eye, rotating in a circular fashion.

To defeat Para Matter, the player has to tap its eye when it opens the four flaps that cover it. This will launch the creature into the background and hurt Drawcia Soul in the process. If missed, the Para Matter will attack Kirby.

Etymology[]

Para Matter's name is most likely derived from the Greek root "para," meaning "close to the original form." This explains its paint-like appearance, as well as its single eye, in relation to Drawcia Soul. Its name may also be an allusion to Dark Matter.

Trivia[]

  • When Para Matter is balled up, it bears a slight resemblance to Orbservor.
  • The Sectonia Flowers that Queen Sectonia summons when she merges with the Dreamstalk share a similar appearance with Para Matter.
