The best top speed of all! Keep moving...
— Flavor Text • Kirby Air Ride

The Formula Star is an Air Ride Machine that appears in Kirby Air Ride. It also appears in Kirby: Right Back at Ya! in the episode Air-Ride-in-Style - Part II, being one of the Air Ride Machines ridden by the Air Riders.

Physical Appearance[]

The Formula Star has a blue ovular base, twin white nacelles on either side and a spoiler on its backside.

General Information[]

The Formula Star is the fastest non-legendary machine, with a top speed of over 42 mph (71 if its Top Speed stat is maxed out using patches). Despite this, its handling can be difficult and it can take a fairly long time to reach its top speed. Its name is derived from formula racing, and shares similar overall mechanics with them.

One of the Formula Star's benefits is the massive boost it gains in comparison to other machines when using boost pads and getting perfect landings. Additionally, the Formula Star retains speed bonuses better than any other vehicle in the game (excluding the legendary machines), so it easily phases through course hazards and enemy attacks. However, because it takes so long to accelerate, it doesn't always land smoothly when it jumps off of ramps.

Strategies[]

Due to its poor steering and acceleration, the Formula Star is difficult to use effectively, especially for beginners. It functions best in Drag Race Stadium events in City Trial, and on relatively straight Air Ride courses like Fantasy Meadows and Nebula Belt.
