Keeby is a regular Kirby who first appeared in Kirby's Dream Course. Keeby is identical to Kirby in every way except color; Keeby is a yellow recolor of Kirby.
In Kirby's Dream Course, the second player plays as Keeby in multiplayer games. Keeby's abilities are identical to those of Kirby, as it would be unfair to give any advantages to the first or second player. Keeby is seen rarely in Kirby's Dream Course, and remains an obscure character to fans of the Kirby series.
Interestingly, while Keeby never officially appeared in any game other than Kirby's Dream Course, another yellow Kirby has appeared in Kirby series spin-offs and mini games. Although the name "Keeby" has never been applied to this unnamed yellow Kirby, it is possible that the yellow Kirby is Keeby. If so, it is possible Keeby has also appeared in Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, Kirby Air Ride, Kirby Squeak Squad, Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Kirby Super Star Ultra - all as an alternate color. It is known for a fact that the Keeby was not featured in Kirby & the Amazing Mirror however, as all three of the colored Kirbies were created on the spot when Dark Meta Knight first attacked.
[edit] Trivia
- Keeby's coloration may be a reference to the fact that Shigeru Miyamoto initially wished for Kirby to be yellow (although Masahiro Sakurai, Kirby's creator, ended up winning this dispute over Kirby's color with his preference of pink).
- In Japan, Keeby's name is spelled "Kiiby". This name is a portmanteau of "Kirby" (or "Kaabii", as he is called in Japan) and "kiiro", Japanese for "yellow".
