Monster Flame is a Super Ability in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Return to Dream Land.

Games[]

Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[]

Monster Flame allows Kirby to summon a flaming dragon to defeat enemies, destroy obstacles, and solve puzzles that require fire power. It features a hat much like the regular Fire hat, only with a larger flame, and red gems in the shape of a flame in front. Monster Flame is obtained from Super Hot Head.

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Monster Flame appears in three of the game's normal stages.

  • In Stage 4 of Cookie Country, Monster Flame is used to destroy the many trees in the forest. One tree is particularly large, and destroying it reveals the stage's dimensional rift leading to Another Dimension.
  • In Stage 3 of Onion Ocean, Monster Flame is used to destroy the many Merman Statues in the cavern. A Giant Flotzo hides under a shipwreck, and burning it when it is peaking out reveals the stage's dimensional rift.
  • In Stage 1 of Egg Engines, Monster Flame is used to detonate the many Bomb Robots in the factory. Detonating the Giant Bomb Robot reveals the stage's dimensional rift.

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Monster Flame also appears in Stage 2 of Dangerous Dinner in a HAL Room. Here, it can be used to destroy the blocks in the HAL Room as well as instantly defeat Super Bonkers for the stage's main Super Ability, Grand Hammer.

Additionally, in Story Mode during the fight against Magolor, when his health is nearly depleted, he will construct a Magic Barrier that can only be destroyed with Super Abilities. Magolor then summons three enemies, one of which is a Super Hot Head. Using Flame, Kirby can destroy two pieces of the Magic Barrier. Magolor then dispels Kirby's ability and summon three more enemies.

After Magolor is defeated using Ultra Sword, he reveals another form. In the second phase of this fight, he can use Monster Flame; Magolor summons a flaming dragon from one side, then a second dragon from the other side, before summoning one from each side simultaneously. When used by Magolor Soul, he summons the flaming dragons vertically instead of horizontally. Unlike Kirby, Magolor's Monster Flame is blue, with the shades of blue being different depending on the form. Magolor's second form in the main mode has dark blue flames, while Magolor Soul has light blue flames. In the True Arena of Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Magolor Soul summons two dragons at once, and then an additional four.
