Nintendo Co., Ltd. (任天堂株式会社, Nintendō Kabushiki gaisha) is a multinational corporation located in Kyoto, Japan. "Nintendo" roughly translates from Japanese into "leave luck to heaven". Initially a company that produces hand-made hanafuda cards, it ventured into several niche businesses before developing into one of the most influential video game companies in the industry.

Nintendo is the owner of the well-known Kirby franchise, mostly co-developed with HAL, as well as Super Mario, Pokemon, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Super Smash Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, F Zero, and other franchises.
