Old Tower is the third area in The Great Cave Offensive. It is a large, looming tower located beneath Dream Land.

The area is a huge maze with many corridors and traps. There are many treasures here. However, exploring the area is optional, as the player may skip the entire level, since the path to Garden Area is at the left of the exterior of the tower.

Treasures[]

  1. Star Tiara: first room, enter the Old Tower's first floor door to the second room. In the second room, go to the upper part of the room (go through a platform or destroy a Star Block with a Shotzo on it) and jump on the spring above the entrance to be bounced up to another door. Enter the door and destroy the Star Blocks in such a way as to be able to avoid the Gordos and reach the Treasure Chest; not all of the blocks need to be destroyed. Price: 408,200G.
  2. Turtle Shell/Koopa Shell: second room, go to the far left and enter the door to the third room. In the third room, use Hammer or Stone to pound the Stake to gain access to the door to the fourth room. In the fourth room, take both Elevators down and enter the door to the fifth room. In the fifth room, defeat Jukid; the Treasure Chest will fall once he's defeated. Price: 800G.
  3. Sword/Falchion: fifth room, obtain Fire from Burning Leo at the end of the fourth room; continue to the right and enter the door to the sith room. In the sixth room, have Burning Leo as a Helper and destroy the Bomb Block to gain access to the Cannon. Get close to the Cannon's fuse so that Burning Leo (as a Computer Player) will use Fire Breath to ignite it. Enter the Cannon before the fuse runs out; Kirby will drop into another area of the room where the Treasure Chest is located. Price: 325,000G.
  4. Warrior Shield: sixth room, enter the bottom door to the seventh room. In the seventh room, enter the water and carefully swim downward while in the current going to the left. The Treasure Chest is located on single block beneath the water. Price: 50,000G.
  5. Unicorn's Horn: second room, go to the far right and enter the door to the eighth room. In the eighth room, ascend to the top of the room and enter the door to the ninth room. In the ninth room, go to the left, then destroy the Bomb Block in the floor near the end of the room; in order to destroy the Bomb Block, a downward attack (from a Copy Ability or Helper) is required. Fall down and go to the right while avoiding the attacks from the Shotzos; guarding or using certain attacks can neutralize any incoming cannonballs. The Treasure Chest is right above the third Shotzo. Price: 80,300G.
  6. Autumntime/Three-Star Cane: ninth room, continue to the left and enter the door to the tenth room. In the tenth room, defeat Bonkers, but do not destroy the Bomb Block in the floor. After defeating Bonkers, continue to the right and activate the Switch; this will cause the Treasure Chest to fall down onto the floor where the player fought Bonkers. Price: 250,000G/222,000G.
  7. Rice Bowl/Broken Bowl: tenth room, continue to the right to the door to the eleventh room. In the eleventh room, defeat the Meta-Knights and continue to the right to the door to the twelfth room. In the twelfth room, destroy the second Bomb Block under the floor (requires a downward attack that can reach more than one block, such as from Yo-Yo), fall down, and take the Catapult through the spikes to the left to the Treasure Chest. Price: 50G.
  8. Tut's Mask: twelfth room, continue to the right to the door to the thirteenth room; this room is where the Old Tower's second floor door leads. In the thirteenth room, destroy the second Bomb Block in the floor (requires a downward attack, such as from Parasol) fall down, and go to the right to reach the Treasure Chest, being careful of the Crumble Blocks; the player can choose to exit by destroying the Bomb Block to the right, which gives access to a Maxim Tomato, or backtrack out from the entry point where the first Bomb Block was. Price: 160,000G
  9. Mr. Saturn: thirteenth room, continue to the leftmost door to the fourteenth room. In the fourteenth room, ride up the first two moving platforms, then continue all the way to the right to a door. Enter the door and avoid all the Sleep Copy Essences while running against the wind to reach the Treasure Chest; Helpers are unaffected by the Sleep Copy Essences (as it does not have a valid Helper) and can be used (as Player 2) to temporarily prevent a Copy Essence from granting Sleep. Price: 120,000G.
  10. Armor: fourteenth room, continue upward, riding up three more moving platforms, then, when ascending the platforms, go to the left when there are three separate platforms next to each other; the Treasure Chest is in an alcove in the left wall. Price: 212,000G.
  11. Treasure Box: fourteenth room, a couple platforms fighter is a door. Enter the door and jump on the spring to get past the downward wind, then jump on the left spring after ascending. The Treasure Chest is at the top of the room and to the right. Price: 100,000G.
  12. Mannequin: fourteenth room, at the top of the room, enter the door to the left. Quickly run and jump to the left and press ↑ on the +Control Pad when close to the Treasure Chest to open it before it scrolls offscreen; be use to leave through the door quickly as well, otherwise the player will be crushed. Price: 3,000G.
  13. Gold Crown: fourteenth room, at the top of the room, enter the door to the right to the fifteenth room. In the fifteenth room, have Stone and a Helper that can cut Ropes; Rocky can be found in the fourteenth room, while Bio Spark and Sir Kibble were encountered earlier in the Old Tower Area (second room for Bio Spark, eighth room for Sir Kibble); Bio Spark, as well as Birdon (who was last encountered in the Sub-Tree Area), can also be obtained from a Copy Essence in the twenty-second room, the room before Chameleo Arm. Use Stone Smash above the second body of water to destroy the blocks below, then go to the right and swim up to the door to the sixteenth room. In the sixteenth room, carefully traverse the bridge to the door to the seventeenth room; the first half of the bridge can be destroyed by downward attacks, and the second half crumbles when stepping on it. In the seventeenth room, ascend upward and use Stone Smash on the left side of the Bomb Block; this will destroy the Bomb Block and the four blocks below it, causing Stone Kirby to sink into the water (which has an upward current) and land directly in front of the Treasure Chest. Use Stone Change to change back and hold ↑ on the +Control Pad to open the Treasure Chest before the current carries Kirby away. Price: 528,000G.
  14. King's Cape: seventeenth room, go to the door to the top left to the eighteenth room. In the eighteenth room, ascend to the door to the ninteenth room. In the ninteenth room, ascend and enter the door to the twentieth room. In the twentieth room, have the Helper cut the Rope, then use Stone to pound the Stake under the step. Enter the door in the alcove, then obtain Mirror from the Copy Essence; use Reflect Force to defeat the Rocky and Laser Ball, then ascend the platforms to the Treasure Chest at the top. Price: 508,000G.
  15. Model Ship: twentieth room, destroy the Bomb Block and continue to the right to the door to the twenty-first room. In the twenty-first room, descend to the door back to the seventeenth room, then go to the left back to the door to the sixteenth room and backtrack to the fifteenth room; the player should avoid the large door at the bottom of the seventeenth room, which sends the player outside of the Old Tower to the first room. In the fifteenth room, swim down and destroy the Bomb Block to get back to the left side of the room. Swim out of the water and destroy the Breakable Blocks to gain access to the door to the twenty-second room. In the twenty-second room, continue to the right to the twenty-third room. In the twenty-third room, defeat Chameleo Arm; after defeating Chameleo arm, continue to the right to the door to the twenty-fourth room, as well as a Maxim Tomato. In the twenty-fourth room, use the Cannons to go to the door to the top left to the twenty-fifth room. In the twenty-fifth room, activate the Switch, then quickly ascend to the area just above the third Candle; if the player is quick enough, there is a door that can be entered, otherwise it is blocked off by a Shutter that the Switch opens; the room is also crowded with enemies, making it easy to take damage while rushing upward. Upon entering the door, go to the right to reach the Treasure Chest, moving with the wind. While not required, using the ladders and having a projectile attack (such as Star Spit) or a Helper can make getting to the door before the Shutter closes easier. Price: 800,000G.
  16. Sun Ring: in the twenty-fifth room, ascend to the top and enter the door to the twenty-sixth room. In the twenty-sixth room, fall down betwee the towers to the door back to the twenty-fourth room. In the twenty-fourth room, use the Cannons to go to the door to the top right to the twenty-seventh room. In the twenty-seventh room, ascend to the area just below the third Candle; there is a door that can be entered, but it's difficult to see when the room is dark. Using Fire obtained from Burning Leo in the twenty-fourth room or Jet from Capsule J(2) in the twenty-seventh room, the Candles can be lit to make the door more visible; however, the Candles only stay lit for ten seconds, and can also be extinguished by certain attacks or enemies passing them. Upon entering the door, go to the left to reach the Treasure Chest, moving against the wind. Price: 800,000G.

Old Tower in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Old Tower appears in The Great Cave Offensive stage in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It takes up the center of the stage.

Trivia[]

  • A few of the treasures refer to the Medieval Age, such as the shield, armor and crown.
  • It is possible to stand on the various roofs of the Old Tower in Kirby Super Star. This is changed in the remake, instead being purely part of the background.
  • In Meta Knightmare Ultra, the Old Tower's doors are closed so Meta Knight can't go in it. This was done probably because the Old Tower is optional and the door to the Garden is to the left.
