Games[]

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards[]

Pupa clings to the ceiling by a short thread. When Kirby comes nearby, Pupa will extend its thread to drop down a certain distance, the exact distance depending on the Pupa. If Kirby attacks or even simply passes through Pupa's thread, the thread will break and Pupa will fall to the ground and explode. This explosion can still hurt Kirby, but it can also be used to attack other enemies.

Big Pupa appears in Stage 3 of Shiver Star as a Room Guarder; in addition to summoning Bos, two at a time, Big Pupa periodically falls from and climbs back to the ceiling on its thread, dropping in either the middle or the left/right sides of the arena. Big Pupa's thread cannot be broken, unlike regular Pupas. It takes six hits to defeat and drops the stage's second Crystal Shard when defeated.

Etymology[]

Pupa is named after a life stage in some insects, the pupa.

Its Japanese name, ミノ (Mino), comes from the Japanese name for bagworm, ミノムシ/みのむし/蓑虫 (minomushi).

Trivia[]

  • Pupa's behavior is near identical to that of Como.
