|“||Sawgill is the rowdiest, most rambunctious fish in the sea, and he knows it. He takes great pride in that magnificent saw of his, but no one will come anywhere near him. Can you blame them?”|
|— Figurine description • Kirby and the Rainbow Curse|
In Kirby's Epic Yarn, Sawgill is a long, blue and beige fish. He has beige fins and two red and black button eyes. He has a long nose with serrated blades on the top and bottom of the nose.
In Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Sawgill is big, narrow fish. He has a blue body, a red underbelly, and yellow dots on his tail. He has a glaring eye with a scar across it. His saw nose now has two larger spikes and slowly rotates like a chainsaw.
Sawgill attacks with the saw in the front. When he spots Kirby and/or Prince Fluff, he will swim toward them. If the two come in contact with the front of the enemy, they will lose beads. When Sawgill is on dry land, he will flop around and can still hurt the two heroes with his saw. Sawgill is vulnerable on his backside or underside. In Dolphin form, however, the Surge Attack can be used to directly defeat Sawgill from the front without danger. When rolled into a yarn ball, he becomes a penetrating projectile that can defeat several enemies in a row and only stops when going off the screen or hitting a wall.
Sawgill does not rush forward in this game. He simply swims slowly forward, turning around before he hits a wall. Only Sawgill's body is vulnerable attacks.
