Tankbot is a transformation that both Kirby and Prince Fluff can take on in Kirby's Epic Yarn. The two can transform into this form by getting the relevant Metamortex. It first appears in Fountain Gardens, then later in Moon Base and Whispy's Forest. It is also used in the final battle against Mega Yin-Yarn, where Meta Knight drops a Tankbot Metamortex for Kirby and Prince Fluff to transform into.
Kirby controls a robot with a pink circular body with red treads, yellow wheels and eyes, and a blue dome. If there is a second player controlling Prince Fluff, then the Tankbot will gain the Prince's crown, and have the same eyes and body as the first player to touch the Metamortex. The second player would be the pilot inside the Tankbot's dome controlling an extra spring-loaded boxing glove in the same color as he is. The missiles have the same color scheme as the main Tankbot (pink and red for Kirby, blue and orange for the Prince).
While in this form, Kirby can aim missiles by tilting the Wii Remote, shoot missiles by pressing button 1, and temporarily hover a short distance above the ground by pressing button 2. If a second person is playing, they can control the boxing glove by tilting the remote to aim, pressing button 1 to punch, button 2 to do a rocket punch, and shake the Wii remote to do a spinning punch. When used right, this makes Kirby and Prince Fluff practically invincible.
The Tankbot is one of Kirby's Awesome attacks in the Kirby Quest sub-game. It has a chance of appearing whenever the meter is stopped in the pink section. Like every other Awesome attack, it hits every foe on the screen.
It has two separate looks; The first look resembles its design in Kirby's Epic Yarn, with its pontoon-shaped handles and yellow eyes. The second design replaces the pontoons for boxing gloves and the eyes resemble Kirby's.
- The music that always plays while in Tankbot form is a remix of the power-up music from Kirby's Dream Land. This exact music remix was previously used for Metal's alternate theme in Kirby Air Ride.
- If the player presses the A button and holds it, the Tankbot's headlights will turn on.
