Top Ride is a racing mode in Kirby Air Ride. As the name suggests, the race takes place at a birds eye view. Unlike the other 2 modes, Top Ride only has 2 machines to choose from, Free Star and Steer Star, both of which do not appear in City Trial or Air Ride. In this mode, there are a lot of power-ups that can cause mayhem with the enemy or the player himself/herself. For example, one lets Kirby throw bombs to explode foes and another summons a fog to confuse approaching rivals.

Here are the tracks in Top ride.
[edit] Grass
Grass is the basic track for beginners. It contains two coconut trees, which, when bumped, drop four coconuts onto the track that blow up after a few seconds. A single boost pad pops up after a few laps in one of two or three locations. Its alternate music is the Skyhigh music from Kirby Super Star.

In this level, the player has to watch out for the parts of the course that erupt or break of into the lava. Its alternate music is King Dedede's theme from Kirby Super Star.

This track is somewhat easy. The waterfall raises Kirby's machine's speed. The track is quite amusing and has no real dangers. Its alternate music is a remix of the Float Islands music from Kirby's Dream Land.
[edit] Sky
The only delays are the sharp turns. The player can jump off a ramp and gain speed, but has to watch out for the stone. Its alternate music is a remix of the map screen music from Revenge of Meta Knight.
[edit] Metal
Possibly the most hazardous Top Ride course. These hazards are mostly composed of gears, which throughout the race stop and change directions. The players must first go through rotating barriers (A Checklist box requires you to not hit one during one race). Then they ride over a giant, which can either quicken or slow down the player, depending on which direction its going. On the left side of the track are big fans which the player can only stop by pressing the corresponding color. On the home stretch are three gears which, like the big gear, can either help or hinder the player, depending on which the gear is going. It is the only course that has a remix for both its normal and alternate soundtrack. Its normal music is a remix of the Cavius music, and its alternate music is the Mint Leaf theme from Kirby's Dream Land.

The first turn features a large plant which will eat the racers if it has the chance. Next are two bridges, the bottom one of which will crumble a short while after a player has stepped on it. The final turn is quite large until the a large part of it sinks, restricting the player's movements. Its alternate music is a remix of the Rock Star music from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

No real dangers here. The walls can appear to disappear, so the player has to watch out for that. Its alternate music is a remix of the Mid-Boss room music from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

[edit] Buzz Saw
Sends enemies flying when hit.
[edit] Kracko Orb
Kracko appears on the stage, electrocuting enemies.
[edit] Missle
Launches a missle to the opponent in front of you
[edit] Hammer
A Hammer swings around Kirby, hitting enemies.
[edit] Fun Bomb
The player can set it, and when enemies touch it, they get hit by confetti.
[edit] Freeze Fan
The player can use this to freeze their opponents.
[edit] Big Cake
Turns the player into a huge Kirby, squashing foes that get in the way. Squashed foes become stunned.

The player can throw bomb that slow down opponents.
[edit] Smokescreen
The player creates a cloud of smoke that confuses opponents.

The player obtains a drill on the front of their machine, ramming opponents out of the way.
[edit] Invincibility Candy
The player gains a boost of speed and becomes invincible to attacks.
[edit] Mike
Stuns all opponents.
[edit] Fire
Creates a line of fire that burns opponents.
[edit] Speed/Charge/Boost Max
Boosts your ship's speed, charge, and boost power.
[edit] Whirl
Causes you ship to spin, making opponents that you hit lose control.
[edit] Speed Reducer
Reduces the players speed. Can be passed on to another opponent.
[edit] All Max
Increases all your ships' capabilities.
[edit] Who? Paint
Turns enemies invisible.
[edit] Chickie
Stuns enemies and makes direction hard for them.
[edit] Lantern
Burns all opponents.
