Zero

From Kirby Wiki

Zero
Full Name Zero
Debut Kirby's Dream Land 3 (1997)
Ability None
Category Boss
Zero is the final boss of Kirby's Dream Land 3. It is the dominant life form, and controls Dark Matter. It was initially destroyed, but soon returned as Zero Two in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. This entity can feel emotions, both positive and negative. But upon failing at harnessing positive emotions it fell into corruption. As such, its weakness is the Love Love Stick.

Metaphorically speaking, Zero and Zero Two are reminders that even in such an idyllic world like Dream Land, true evil will always be present.

[edit] Kirby's Dream Land 3

Kirby confronts Zero
Zero appears after Kirby defeats Dark Matter. In his first form, Zero appears as a giant, round, white sphere, with a small, blood-red eye with a black pupil. It attacks by shooting drops of blood from openings that appear around its eye and launches smaller versions of Dark Matter at Kirby. It is also capable of ramming, and, Due to his size, this is hard to dodge. Sometimes, Zero continues forward, off-screen and into the background. When it does, it will begin to shoot blood from its eye, which deals a lot of damage if it makes contact with Kirby. When Zero's Life Meter is first depleted, the eye will slowly tear itself out of the white body in a bloody and gruesome manner. The eye will then start to chase Kirby around the screen as a last effort to defeat him. It has no other attacks besides ramming, and not very much health, and can be taken down in a short amount of hits.

[edit] Trivia

  • Despite it being a rated E for Everyone game, due to the blood it would most likely be E10+ by today's standards, although the rating E 10+ did not exist at the time this game was released.
  • It is likely that Zero's blood was included in the final confrontation with him because he would most likely be fought by older players, as it is common for younger players such as children, not to pursue or understand a 100% completion rate, thus never knowing about Zero or his role as the true Final Boss. The same can be said about Zero-Two.
  • It is shown in the battle with Zero, that he can in fact make Dark Matter from his own body as an attack. This seems to cement the reason why he is the leader of the Dark Matter, as they are all in fact, a creation of his powers, even if they have free will. Whether or not Zero is the only source of Dark Matter in the universe is unknown.
  • Along with Zero Two (02), Zero is considered one of the most gruesome characters in the entire game series.
